Hi my name is Dave and I am from Lorain, Ohio. I am a musician and by the time anyone reads this I'll be 20. I am a rhythm guitar player interested in performing at open mic nights or any where I can get any kind of booking or an audience. I am willing to travel if need be. I have played at "Abbey Road on the River" in Cleveland for the last three years. In August "04" my friend and I made it to the final round and played on the main stage at Public Hall. I have experience playing in front of people and I thrive on it. The more the merrier. I am accustomed with playing early rock and roll but I've been dying to play my own stuff and I'm open to suggestions of classic rock. I am looking for people or places to play for and I can't find any open mic nights around Lorain. Please, if anyone is looking for entertainment I can play just about as long as you'd need. If money is involved I'd probably be reasonable as long as I got to play and be heard. As long as I don't get shot I'll play for any audience. I'm also looking for people to start my own band with the same interests in music I have. My Number is (440) 277-1964.

Hello everyone! My friends call me "Rev" and I am looking to make contacts in Akron. I plan to move to Akron in the near future and am seeking more information about your city. I've partied in Akron a few times but would like more information then the bar scene. I am an "Ergonomical Minister" (one who ministers to anyone reguardless of their religious affliations or lack thereof and does not seek to convert anyone to any particular religious theocracy.) I am a talented and experienced webmaster as well as a very gifted graphic artist. As part of my ministry I provide premium quality graphics and interactive web pages for non-profit and not-for-profit organizations free of charge. If any organization needs my services, please email me with the details. I have been an outspoken advocate for Gay Rights for over 20 years and have been of service to the AIDS/HIV since it was called "GRID" when I was a activist in San Francisco. I have attended Gay Pride rallies and parades in almost every major city in America. I am a published novelist ("The Man With A Thousand Shoes! The Autobiographical Philosophies of The Mari Rev") listed on all of the major retail booksellers sites. I am looking to become as active in Akron as I have been in all my travels around this country. I would appriciate any information anyone can give. The more information the better! ~Rev

Hello. I am a reporter with The Chronicle-Telegram in Elyria. I'm working on an article about gay marriage and am trying to locate a couple in the Lorain County area that is interested in getting married or has thought about it, at least. I'd like to hear comments and concerns about the proposed gay marriage ban and I'd also like to find out information about specific couples ie how they met, how long they've been together, why they want to get married, etc. If anyone lives in or is from the Lorain County area and is interested in being part of this article, please contact me. Thank you.

Conscious Cafe is a gay friendly space open on Friday nights between 7-10PM. It is located at 3909 Blackburn Rd. · Canton, OH 44718 near corner of Fulton & Hills and Dales across from Johhny Applecheese in Avondale. The phone number for the church is 330·492·3383 Even thought the coffee house is located in the basement of a church, it is not too "Jesus-y" like some may think. No one will try to push religion on you. We have Fair Trade coffees and teas, great desserts, inexpensive prices, music, fun games, and people who respect all people. The cafe was started by myself and my partner. If you are looking for a smoke-free place to relax, then check us out!

Out & Equal Workplace Summit in Cincinnati To Feature Presentation on Gay-Themed Ads Commercial Closet founder Michael Wilke will bring his collection of 85 of the best and worst gay-themed commercials and political ads from around the world to the 11th annual Out & Equal Workplace Summit in the Cincinnati area Oct. 5-7. Wilke was covering the emergence of gay marketing and advertising for Advertising Age when he was invited to New York's lesbian & gay film festival in 1996 to put together a report about gay images in commercials. "I began talking to my usual contacts at advertising agencies about the project" he said, "and, six months later, I had collected more material than I knew what to do with." The 11th annual Out & Equal Workplace Summit is expected to attract more than 500 members of LGBT employee resources groups, human resource and diversity professionals, straight allies and others who advocate for LGBT equity in the workplace to the Cincinnati area. Other plenary session speakers include Mandy Carter, one of the nation's best known African-American lesbian activists, leading a panel of workplace advocates addressing the intersection of race and sexual orientation; shareholder activist Shelley Alpern, assistant vice president at Trillium Management Asset Corp., an investment firm devoted to socially responsible asset management; and Cynthia Martin, former President of Eastman Kodak's Global Customer Service and Support, who was named by the Gay Financial Network as one of the 25 most influential gay and lesbian executives in corporate America. More than 45 workshops will address the challenge of creating safe and equitable workplaces for LGBT employees. Workshops run the gamut from “Gays, God and the Workplace,” a workshop for HR professionals on dealing with conflicts between LGBT employees and co-workers with strong religious convictions, to “Marketing to the Gay Community,” covering ways in which LGBT employees can help their company do a better job of selling its products and services. A number of workshops are focused on transgender issues, and an entire cluster is devoted to challenges faced by employee resource groups. A gala celebration is scheduled to give “Outie” awards to individuals and businesses that have distinguished themselves in support of LGBT employees. A riverboat trip to view the Cincinnati skyline from the Ohio River is also on the agenda. The registration fee for the three-day conference, which covers all plenary sessions, workshops and meals, is $450 for participants who register by Sept. 15. One- and two-day registration packages are also available. To get more information and register, visit Out & Equal’s website at www.outandequal.org, or call 415/439-4272.

A benefit for Cheryl Townsend** Where: Brady's Cafe in Kent When: Thursday, October 30th, at 8pm Cost: $5.00 (or more if you want to make a donation) FEATURING DRIFTER and GO GO BOTS There will also be an open mic in case any poets want to read at this event ** Cheryl Townsend of cat's Impetuous Books and Stuff has been a huge supporter of the creative community over the past several years. Her book store and her publication have gone a long way towards giving poets and artists an outlet for their creative works. In September, Cheryl had to have emergency surgery. During the one month recovery period she has not been able to work. The combination of medical bills and lost wages have been a major blow to Cheryl and her bookstore. I urge you to help by attending this benefit, and also support cat's bookstore. It is a valuable resource for our community TerryZ

Performance artist challenges gender roles and sexuality GAMBIER, OHIO--Transgendered playwright and performanceartist Kate Bornstein will present "Cut 'n' Paste," Sunday,October 26, at 2:00 p.m. in Kenyon College's Ascension Hall, Room220. The presentation is a mix of dramatic monologues, poetry, and interactive lecture designed to lead the audience on ajourney exploring gender roles, sexuality, and societalperspectives that challenge people to be themselves. The author of Gender Outlaw: On Men, Women, and the Rest ofUs, Bornstein lives and works in San Francisco. Formerly callingherself a transsexual lesbian, she now prefers that the questionof her identity be answered with "to be announced." In May 1986, Bornstein underwent a male-to-female sex changeoperation which, along with hormone treatments, made Bornsteinanatomically a woman. After a year of living as a woman, shesaid she realized she wasn't comfortable with her gender. Through her performance art, she seeks to question society'snotions of what it means to be male or female. Bornstein wants to throw away the rulebook on gender, to doaway with "either/or" oppositions like man/woman andstraight/gay--to create not androgyny but a plurality of shifting gender identities. The presentation is part of Kenyon's celebration of GayHistory Month. Free and open to the public, it is sponsored byAllied Sexual Orientations with support from Student Activities, the Associate Provost' Office, and the Department of Psychology.
