No Loitering
by Harry M. Bobb III

Softly.
O! how softly.
Like a whisper from a dream
Filling the emptiness
I sat and listened to the water
As the crystal azure flowed by
And the Willow’s arms outstretched
Protecting me from the glaring Sun
Ancient and wise in intentions
Drinking with a thirst I never knew
Deeply, O! so deeply
Of the crystal blue

Here it was I wandered
On that fleeting Summer day
When the Sun’s rays gently streaming
Through the darkness lead my way
And I found a bed of moss
Clinging to millennium stone
And it was there I laid my head
Letting time just slip away

And as Summer was down
To a wonderful metamorphosis
The light slipped far away
By the time I had awoken
And the brook that flowed near by
To my soul it seemed had spoken

And as the Summer must give way
So my dream is but a token
Of a day that came to be
One of idle luxuries
For the body, mind, and soul
Wrapped in Mother Nature’s arms
Near the Willow’s weeping foot

...Then Summer gave way
