Our cover says a lot about what we have to be
thankful for
in our fight against AIDS. The drugs that are mentioned are
having wonderful success in eradicating this disease. As I had
mentioned earlier, an AIDS researcher had said that we can
now see a glow at the end of the tunnel. That comment was made
some months ago. I think that we have actually progressed to a
point that it is now a light at the end of the tunnel. We may be
finally coming out of the woods here.
Well, it seems as though the good voters of N.
Carolina have
once again chosen to send Jesse Helms back to the Senate for
a sixth term. At 94, this old windbag continues to stir up trouble
everywhere he goes. He has proudly proclaimed that he will be
even more of a thorn in the side of President Clinton and Senator
Ted Kennedy than ever before. It wouldn't be so bad if this
homophobic buffoon only affected the people in N. Carolina
(because they deserve him). But, he affects people all over
America with his messages of hate, and his interference with
foreign policy, where he is, by no means, an expert.
The Gay Community had put a lot of effort into
defeating Jesse,
but his messages of racism and hate mongering reached quite a
few people in N. Carolina who think the same way as he does.
You see, his opponent, Harvey Gandt just happens to be black.
Gandt was thought to have had a good chance to unseat Jesse
--this, his second try, but when Jesse played the race card and
threw in the fact that he felt Gandt was championing the
homosexual agenda, the (informed?) electorate bought into
all his BS.
So, for all of you N. Carolinians who voted for
Jesse, I have a
hot tip for you. Textile companies have spent a lot of money on
research and development of a sheet that can be used earlier in
the evening out in the woods, and then be put back on the bed
later. And would you believe, those little eye holes won't tear.
Oh those clever textile people, what will they think of next?
The Reverend Jim Baker proclaims in his new book
"I Was Wrong" that "I am not now, nor have I ever been,
a
homosexual." If his word alone is not good enough, his ex-wife,
