Ready, Set, ..... It's Club Dance Season
There Hasn't been a better time than now to be
in the clubland
scene. It has been the year stylistic nuances from various regions
have blended together to entice the entire world. There has been
a long pounding of the pulpit for the unity of the clubland. It seems
to finally be upon us. While romping through the fast 'n' furious
peeks into selected sectors of dance music's vast global landscape,
you'll see that the threads of commonality are deliciously apparent.
While it is the urge of the followers to celebrate a union, it is
important to be equally encouraging and supportive of the
contrasting ideals and sounds that keep the international dance
music community from becoming just another cog in the
mainstream musical machine. With the rising commercial success
of dance music, comes placement atop the tightrope dividing rich
community and toeing the company line. It's a tough line to walk,
but together we can do it.
It's dueling Diva time at the box office and at
the record shops.
Whitney Houston has her album and movie "The Preachers Wife,"
which features her song "Step By Step." This is going to be remixed
by Soul Solution. As well, they will be remixing Kym Mazelle's song
"Young Hearts Run Free" from the "Romeo and Juliet"
movie.
Joining those dueling ranks are Bette Midler with her movie "The
First Wives Club." Though, Bette isn't belting any singles from this
soundtrack she is teaming up with Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton
to sing "You Don't Own Me." This album has some kicking renditions
from past and present. Give all of the soundtracks a real listen.
HEY Akron, dance your buns off!!!! Raven
