What's Up
Issue #21
 January 10th ~ 24th   1997

I was very heartened a few years ago when I attended the
formation meetings of the group Visions. Over fifty percent of
those attending were women, and this looked like a great
chance to to bring some cohesiveness to Our Community. Alas,
not even 6 months after the group was founded you could count
the number of female members on one hand, despite the fact
that that the first president was a woman. So much for the
vision of unity. Before we can sell ourselves to the heterosexual
community we need to come together and sell ourselves to each
other.

Terry's second thought, Money Is Power is correct to the
extent that those with money have more of an ability to control
events surrounding them, than those who don't have it. Any
business or organization, Gay or Straight, must provide good
service at a reasonable price. Assuming that these two principles
are in place, and you have a level playing field (good references,
some history etc.), choose the business or organization that is
supportive of your lifestyle.

How about the formation of an Akron / Canton Gay Business
Alliance for starters. If there is anyone interested in helping to
attain this goal, please contact What's Up via phone or e.mail us
at whatsup@rainbow-akron.com

Any input would be greatly appreciated, What's Up is your
