We are being deprived
of our place in America for no other reason
than the beliefs of the fanatic fringe of the religious right wing of our
political parties. These people themselves are a minority, but they hold
the power needed to perpetuate the hate and fear of Gay people. They
must be removed! The version of the Bible that these fanatics subscribe
to is the Book of Hate, and they are writing it as they go along.
Coors Brewing Company
is now targeting our community with their
beer ads, I wonder why? Just a few short years ago they were said to
have Anti-Gay policies. Could it be the fact that probably every Gay
bar and business in America stopped selling their products?
What if Gay people
began boycotting the tobacco giants that dump
huge sums of money into Jesse Helms' political campaign? I'm not just
talking cigarettes. These corporate giants sell us a great portion of
what we eat or otherwise consume. RJR Nabisco, Phillip Morris, etc.
have interests in practically every aspect of our daily lives, so that
as
more and more of us realize that smoking is killing us, and quit, they
will still have a huge American market.
Think about it. Do
you really know the companies that you are doing
business with and what they represent? What do you think would
happen to politics in the tobacco states if we were to boycott these
companies?
The bottom line is
the almighty dollar. I would not enjoy seeing
innocent employees of these companies lose jobs, due to a decline in
sales caused by a boycott but maybe these people need to understand
that we are losing our jobs, and being denied our freedoms because the
companies that they work for, and the politicians that they elect are
instrumental in maintaining the legal discrimination against our people.

somewhere. Please lend your support. There are already a few Gay
Civil Rights groups in Akron such as Stonewall Akron. Join them.
Encourage unity. Quit being apathetic. You can make a difference.
Spread the word to every queer that you know in the USA. Let's raise
some hell. Bill Clinton needs to be held to his promises to us. He must
