What's Up

Issue #27
April 4th   1997

I Hate To Say Anything, But...
by Terry Zimmerman

Well... the big wind has come and gone and Dorothy
is still in Kansas. People should not blame Don Brown
for the articles that are written by me. Enough said.

Stonewall Akron is being featured on our cover
this issue and I strongly urge you to give serious
consideration to joining, and participating in the
activities of this Gay (all inclusive) organization.
It only makes sense. There is strength in numbers.

This article is being written on Easter Sunday.
It's about midnight. Rumor has it that Gargoyles is
changing hands as this is being written. But, I have
not been able to confirm that this is a fact, or
whether, if true, it will continue to be a Gay
business. Like I have said before, we need all of the
Gay and Gay friendly establishments that we can get.
The more that there are, the better off we all are. I
hope that Gargoyles has not fallen from our community.
If it has, we have lost many jobs for Gay people and
the economic power of our community has diminished,
pro quo. Of course, by the time that you read this
article, (coming out March 4th) the answers will be
known as to whether this is a fact or just another
rumor about Gargoyles.

The Easter Bonnet and Basket Auction held at Adams
Street to benefit the Community AIDS Network was not
the howling success that had been hoped for. According
to Don Brown, the materials used to make the Bonnets
and Baskets cost more than the finished products sold
for at auction. This is a real shame, considering all
of the time and effort that went into making them.
However, next year will be better, says Don, and
"Thank you for attending".

Lance Serb has left Cafe 115 to return to his
previous line of work. I understand that his former
employer made him an offer that he couldn't refuse. I
wish good luck to Lance and hope that he is very
successful; and, to Dennis Fitzpatrick, who now is
alone at the helm of Cafe 115. Onward and upward.
There is talk that the Cafe may soon be open again on
Saturdays. I hope I can go there for breakfasts again.
Yum Yum. As anyone who knows me will attest, I can't
afford to miss any meals.

What's Up will be delaying the printing of issue
#28 by one week to get back to our old delivery
schedule.

Due to Email inquiries from around the U.S.,
What's Up is now available by subscription for $26 per
year. This is for those who are reading What's Up on
the Internet and would like to have a printed copy. We
will mail it to you in a plain brown envelope. Thank
you for your interest and the positive comments you
have sent us.
