N.E.O. Visions
....a unique concept in community networking
Again, this year, N.E.O. Visions presents
Auction '97, to be held May 17, 1997, at the prestigious
Akron City Club. This event includes an elegant dinner
followed by a live and silent auction of celebrity and
member-donated items from romantic weekend holidays to
objects' d'art to classic memorabilia.
In past years, the evening has been totally sold
out. In an attempt to accommodate as many people as
possible, additional seating has been added this year.

Since its inception, this premiere gala has
generated thousands of dollars for the gay and lesbian
community of northeast Ohio. Through a grant process
developed two years ago, funds are awarded annually to
organizations for the purpose of promoting positive
images of the community. In the past, funds have been
awarded to such groups as Stonewall Akron, Violet's
Cupboard, North Coast Men's Chorus, GLSTN, the
Lesbian-Gay Community Center of Greater Cleveland, and
others.
N.E.O. Visions is a nonprofit organization whose
mission is to provide an opportunity for the northeast
Ohio gay and lesbian community to develop a positive
sense of identity through education, empowerment, and
social networking. Whether it is a large social
function, informal potluck, theater party, or car rally,
members meet to socialize and unify in a supportive,
non-judgemental and safe atmosphere. Persons newly
emerging into the gay community have an opportunity to
meet others who have successfully and confidently made a
place for themselves.
This creative concept has brought together a
stimulating and diverse cross section of the population.
Members receive reduced admission to special events, a
monthly newsletter mailed discreetly, and a membership
directory in which they may choose to list their names
and addresses.
