A letter to What's Up
from AIDS Holistic Services Program

Sometimes, being the director of an AIDS agency seems an
overwhelming task. As resources dwindle and the client load
increases, the responsibilities can feel overwhelming.
Working with our clients helps to keep me focused and
renewed, but also, the work that our volunteers do, day in
and day out, to help us, renews my faith and lifts my
spirits.

Every rare once in a while, someone comes to us and
offers us time and work and creativity on a silver platter. A
gift of themselves presented without my even asking. When
this happens, this rare gift, I cherish it, for I understand
the worth and the cost. I would like to thank Terry and Jim
of What's Up for giving my agency just such a gift. The time
spent setting up our web page, their patience with me when I
was in one meeting or another and they needed to talk to me,
for taking the time for working with my intern Brian, and for
the time to explain everything with patience and kindness,
for the gift of themselves and the help their business has
given, not only to this agency, but the 352 persons living
with HIV / AIDS that we serve.

THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Jackie Figler
Director
AIDS Holistic Services
