What's Up

Issue #37
August 29th  1997

Likewise, we don't feel that we should reap all of the name recognition associated with writing inspirational commentaries. This isn't about making a living off the closed circles of gay culture. It's about opening the circles of gay culture to include everyone of it's representatives. We really do want to hear from YOU! We would like for you to write your stories of coming out, discrimination that you have suffered, personal triumphs, social or political commentary, poetry, or any other ideas that you would like to share with the readers of What's Up. If you represent a gay friendly business, we would also like to offer you the opportunity to reach the local gay population through very inexpensive advertising (which is exactly what makes printing What's Up possible).

If you have read this far into this issue of What's Up, you have probably already noticed that it is not like the other publications of a similar format. What's Up Magazine and it's companion Web site http://www.rainbow- akron.com are possibly the best kept secret in local / global gay media production. We think it's very much worth your while to find out what we are all about and to actively participate in this one-of-a-kind resource.

For all of you who say you'll do it when you get a "ROUND TUIT" well, now you have one! And, you've got a free "SOAP BOX" to stand on while you're doing it!                                       JL :o)
